Introduction to Thigh Lift

Even with consistent exercise and a healthy lifestyle, excess fat and loose skin on the thighs can be difficult to improve without surgery.

At Lake Norman Plastic Surgery, Dr. Henry Wilson performs thigh lift procedures for patients who want smoother, firmer contours and a more balanced lower body shape.

What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift (thighplasty) is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and reshapes the thighs, resulting in a more toned appearance. It’s especially beneficial for patients who have experienced significant weight loss and are left with lax, sagging skin that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise.

During surgery, Dr. Wilson makes carefully planned incisions to remove extra tissue, tighten the remaining skin, and refine the natural leg shape. Depending on your goals, the procedure can target the inner thighs, outer thighs, or both.

Ideal Candidates

The best candidates for thigh lift surgery are healthy adults who are dissatisfied with the shape of their thighs due to excess skin, fat, or tissue laxity. Ideal candidates typically:

  • Have lost a substantial amount of weight and are left with loose skin
  • Notice skin laxity due to aging or genetics
  • Are at or near their goal weight and plan to maintain it
  • Don’t smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery

During your consultation, Dr. Wilson will review your medical history, lifestyle, and goals to determine whether a thigh lift is right for you.

What Are the Benefits of a Thigh Lift?

Patients choose thigh lift surgery for both functional and aesthetic reasons. Common benefits include:

  • Smoother, firmer thigh contours
  • Improved body proportions and balance
  • Reduction of skin irritation or chafing
  • Better fit in clothing such as jeans, skirts, and swimsuits
  • Increased confidence in everyday activities and special occasions
  • Long-lasting results when paired with a stable weight and healthy habits

For many patients, the most meaningful benefit is feeling at ease in their own skin again.

What’s the first step?

Your Thigh Lift Journey with Henry WIlson, MD

Your first step is a private consultation with Dr. Wilson at Lake Norman Plastic Surgery. He’ll discuss your concerns, explain your surgical options, and perform a physical evaluation. This visit gives you the opportunity to ask questions and design a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Day of Surgery

Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia (administered by board-certified anesthesiologists) for your comfort. Incisions are typically placed along the inner thigh or groin crease, depending on the surgical plan. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the remaining tissues are tightened to create a smooth, refined contour.

Your Guide to Post-Thigh Lift Care

Dr. Wilson provides detailed post-operative instructions and follow-up care. Most patients take about two weeks off from work and regular activities. Light walking is encouraged soon after surgery to promote circulation, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for about six weeks or until cleared.

Consistent use of compression garments and adherence to aftercare instructions help optimize your results.

Cost of Thigh Lift Surgery

The cost of a thigh lift depends on the surgical technique, anesthesia, and facility fees. During your consultation, you’ll receive a personalized estimate covering all associated costs. Financing options may be available.
