Hey! Welcome back to Katie’s Corner–or welcome if you’re new! This blog is a teen’s perspective about life and skincare. Today I wanted to start a series of skincare related blogs, but I have to announce something first.

I haven’t posted in two weeks, even though I promised I’d try to stick to that schedule. That’s because I was away at a sleepaway camp for a month and didn’t have access to the internet.

I also wanted to address the fact that I wanted to make a series of posts related to the necessities everyone should have in their skincare routine. I was thinking about calling the series The Skincare Starter Pack..

In the series I wanted to have one post about each of the most beneficial and basic skincare products for a young teen face. First, I wanted to cover cleanser because it’s what you do to start your routine. Second, would be moisturizer, as moisturizer is a required step in one’s skincare routine. Third would be sunscreen since keeping your skin shielded from the Sun’s harmful rays is quite important. Fourth would be treatments for those with acne and acne scars because acne is a common struggle in many teen lives. I decided to do this series because I thought everyone deserves to know how to take care of their skin properly.

Now let’s talk about moisturizers

Moisturizers help keep water in your skin and support your skin barrier, which can keep your skin from becoming dry or irritated.

Now, you might think that people with oily skin don’t need moisturizers due to their increased oil production. This statement is actually false. You see, having oily skin doesn’t necessarily mean you should skip moisturizer. A lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer can be a good option for oily or combination skin. So, a lightweight moisturizer is recommended for oil-combination skin. Coming from a person with combination skin, I would recommend the Bubble Level Up Balancing Gel Moisturizer. This moisturizer is designed to treat oily-combination skin types. It’s a lightweight non-comedogenic moisturizer that retails for around sixteen dollars. Also, please keep in mind that I’m not affiliated with any of these brands that I’m referencing. I’m simply commenting on what looked like the best option coming from a teen.

There are also people with a dry skin type. People with dry skin may prefer a richer moisturizer, while people with sensitive skin may want to look for gentle, fragrance-free products. After doing thorough research, I’d recommend the Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer or the Cetaphil Rich Hydrating Cream. Both products are non-comedogenic and contain hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps attract and hold water in the skin. . Along with the moisturizing benefits, the products both retail for around fourteen dollars.

I hope all of this info on moisturizers helped! I might post a bit less in the next couple of weeks due to school starting up, but I’ll try to post every other week. Thank you for reading my blog!
